Description
An additional Feature of a Bearing Isolator is Vapor Locking. While the equipment is rotating, some part of the Lubrication is sacrificed in the form of heat which is forced to vent out of a breather plug, Once the equipment cools down, a Vacuum is generated which sucks the air/moisture, from the external atmosphere of the rotating equipment (bringing corrosive gases, liquids in oil chamber), which then fails the Bearing. In case of Bearing Isolators, the same is prevented in two ways, 1) Interference fitment of the isolator, 2) Torturous path as seen in above picture.
